JPAC  (Joint POW-MIA  Accounting Command)

The mission of JPAC is to achieve the fullest possible accounting of all Americans missing as a result of our nation's past conflicts. JPAC encourages anyone with information relating to an American loss to contact us either directly or through the American Embassy or Consulate.Gathering DNA samples from family members of missing service members is vital to the identification process. Many of our identification efforts involve mitochondrial DNA analysis which is traced through the maternal bloodline. Today's technology allows us to identify some remains through mitochondrial DNA.  So if you know of a family member who is from the maternal bloodline of an unaccounted-for American, please ask them to contact the appropriate military service or Department of State for missing civilians to provide a blood sample at U.S. Army: (800) 892-2490; U.S. Air Force: (800) 531-5501; U.S. Navy: (800) 443-9298; U.S. Marine Corps: (800) 847-1597; Dept. of State: (202) 647-6769.
